Create from Nothing [Guided Music Workshop]
CREATE FROM NOTHING
A guided studio experience in music, instinct, and flow.
Create From Nothing is a small-group workshop designed for people who feel the urge to create music, but don’t know where to begin.
No music experience is needed.
Together, we build music from scratch using rhythm, sound, and technology. The process is guided step by step inside a professional studio environment using instruments, drum machines, microphones, and studio tools.
The focus is not technical perfection.
It’s participation, creativity, listening, and discovering how quickly music can emerge when people are given the right environment and structure.
Most people arrive thinking they “can’t make music.”
Within minutes, they are already contributing to something real.
By the end of the session, the group will have created and recorded an original piece together, something imperfect, alive, and uniquely theirs.
WHAT TO EXPECT
A relaxed and welcoming studio environment
Guided creative exercises using rhythm and sound
Hands-on interaction with instruments and music technology
Collective music-making in a small group setting
A final recording of the session to take away
No prior musical knowledge required
WHO IT’S FOR
This workshop is for:
curious beginners
creatives feeling disconnected from inspiration
people who have always wanted to try music
artists looking for a fresh process
anyone interested in creativity through participation
You do not need:
musical training
rhythm skills
technical knowledge
performance experience
Just curiosity and a willingness to participate.
If you do have prior music skills, this will enhance your knowledge of process, studio technique, and compositional approach.
THE APPROACH
The workshop draws from my background as a percussionist, producer, DJ, and researcher into music, rhythm, participation, and human experience.
Rather than teaching music academically, the session focuses on direct experience:
how rhythm, repetition, listening, and interaction naturally allow creativity to emerge.
It’s less about “learning music” and more about entering the process of creation itself.
DETAILS
The Nest Studio, Surry Hills. Cnr Crown and Devonshire Sts.
Saturday 13 June
2:00pm – 3:30pm
